Can't get Frost Wire to download
I need help downloading frost wire off of this site....it wont let me save it and every time i run the program it says thank you after but never pulls anything else up.

I am the president of a club. This month I convinced many members to get Window7 Phones - we are returning them. We are all individual users. Now we can't sync ALL of THE INFO in our contacts info from Outlook to their phones (no problem doing it with iPhones).
Below is a message I tried to get to Microsoft with no success. ?
This is ridiculous -- we are returning all of our Windows 7 Phones and getting iPhones!! We can easily sync our Outlook contacts to iPhones without any problems!
We tried the Windows Live and some of the other solutions and they are not good. They are convoluted and the limits are way too restrictive.and the free-form field in the contacts (in which you can enter any information you like for a contact) were either eliminated or truncated! On the iPhones it's not only much easier -- everything is there! I have approx 1,600 contacts, some of which have considerable info in the free form part (I don't know what the actual name of this 'field')
How absurd is it that a major Microsoft product can't get along well with the Windows 7 Phone or Windows Live but can with the iPhone!

also a major factor in this are the bugs that i have been reading about that have plagued the JH series, are these more or less gone?
and still not sure about the 460m vs hd5870 (does 460m beat 5870 with future updates?)

How to know if your hard drive crashed
How can you be sure the hard drive crashed and you need to replace it? I have a dell laptop that only show a blue screen when turned on. I've tried restarting several times.

Is it possible to make a directory so it can only be accessed if you enter a password?
Also is it possible to take Word documents and encrypt them with a password so others can not read them?
I use my computer at school and a bunch of people are always using it(which i have no problems) Though I do have some sensitive and private word documents that I do not want just anyone reading.

C5500 upgrade error
When trying to upgrade unit via USB, it recognizes the software on USB (current s/w 1014.0, USB 1020.1), prompts to do upgrade,
then preparing to upgrade, but then returns with this error msg "Failed to upgrade. Please check and retry"
suggestions before I return to store
Also I tried previously to upgrade over internet which failed but with no message.

Upgrading ProBook 4520s memory: easy?

I'm about to buy this notebook configured with 2GB RAM and I need to upgrade to 4GB. The store can't do this for me so I will do it myself. I checked out the ) with stock 4GB and better graphics but appalling keyboard.

Win 7 cannot detect wireless lan adapter
Once upon a time, my xbox 360 picked up my wireless through a nice little bridge. Then one day the bridge stopped working, the wireless router stopped working and the xbox internet connection was dead.
I replaced the router with a DLink DIR 655 N and replaced the wireless bridge with a Buffalo Wireless N dual Band Ethernet Converter. The Linksys CM100 cable modem survived the whole ordeal and still works great. I can get wireless on my laptop and cell phones.
The issue: Neither my Windows 7 machine nor my Xbox 360 will recognize the Buffalo. They also did not recognize the Linksys wireless N gaming and video adapter, which is why I replaced it with the Buffalo.
I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Buffalo support and that did me no good. I have searched the Microsoft support forums and still cannot find a solution. I've searched the internet and haven't found this exact issue.
Can anyone provide any insight that might help the devices shake hands? I would be delighted to solve this issue. THANKS.

I live in the US and I want to buy the F13 but I have some questions. I have been reading all of the posts possible but cannot find the answer. I know there are at least a few people on here who all ready bought the F13 but I am not sure from where. US, Canada, Europe, etc. You can see what I am getting below except I canceled the order because I decided to get 4 GB of memory and buy and install 8GB my self because I will save $120. I am also going to remove and install a SSD.
I also notice that people refer to two different premium screens and that one is better than the other but it always seems like people are unsure or might not have hard evidence that two different premium screens exist. Maybe there is only one premium screen and some people like it and some people do not. Therefore, maybe people believe there are two different screens. Any comments about the premium screen?
There also seems to be people who know how to disable the screen dimmer and others who do not. People who know how to disable the dimmer seem to be happy with the screen where people who do not know how to disable the dimmer seem unhappy. Any comments about the screen dimmer?

1. Is the screen matte or glossy?
2. If it is glossy do I have an option for the matte?
3. Is the palm rest plastic or leather?
4. Does the MB have a raid chip so I can configure raid?
5. Does the keys scratch or damage the screen?

Can Time Machine be used for extra drives?
I have a Mac Pro and currently have two drives in it, a system drive that's using as the startup disc and for most of my use. The 2nd drive is more like a server drive which is used on that system but also shared with all computers on my home network. i use it for things like clipart, backups of itunes from the laptops, media files, etc.
I just installed a 3rd hard drive and have been planning to set it up as a Time Machine drive for my Mac Pro. I have several questions though.
I assume when I do this it will just work as a Time Machine drive for my main system/startup drive, correct?
Is there a way I can use Time Machine for the 2nd drive in my system? In a sense setting up two Time Machine backups, one from the main drive to this new backup drive and the 2nd from the server drive to a 4th drive I can add in the future?
If the 2nd question is a No, is there a way I can set it up so that Time Machine simply backs up both the main drive and that 2nd, server drive, to the Time Machine drive? I really prefer not to use this option since both drives are 1TB and the hard drive I have just gotten as the time machine drive is 1.5TB. youtube app not working on Samsung TV
i am not able to register youtube app on samsung internet TV model LN46C650. error "authentication failed due to network failure. try again later". already talked to samsung support 4-5 times and internet provider support, but no help. tried all possible ways to make it work - reset modem, applied latest firmware, reinstall app.now i do not have any issues registering picassa and other apps.appreciate any help...now this is the only hope...

Is there any way to independently replace the graphics card?

M11xR2 Graphics problems.
I have been having problems with my graphics after I did a clean install of Windows.
After reinstalling all the drivers I cannot get this thing to use the 335. In device manager I get "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
I have reinstalled 260.99 a few times with zero luck.
HALP?

Device Manager Problem
In Device Manager under "Other Devices" it has 6 ! points I can update the drivers though through Device Manager but I am not sure of what they are. It says..3 of them say base system device...1 says ethernet controller...other two say unknown device although the location of 1 says...on Intel(R) PM55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B03 I just reformatted my new M15X laptop I got it about 3 weeks ago =) like to keep it clean. FYI I installed the CC program, synapse pointer device driver, ATI video driver, audio driver, and lastly the chipset driver all from the Dell support page. I wanted to tell you lastly that I did not install the LAN driver nor the wireless wifi Intel link 5300 driver. I connected to the internet so I assumed I didn't need them.

Now I am not really happy with this studio 17. I want more video capability. I feel like what they are offering me is a DOWNGRADE? I think I am going to try it out, and if I'm not happy, I'll return both for a refund, then go with an XPS 17...thoughts/ideas/comments are welcome. I tried to get them to throw in a XPS as a replacement but they wouldn't. I also tried to get them to throw in a Bluray player, they wouldn't, I could only get them to upgrade the battery to a 9-cell. I also tried for a small SSD instead, but they said its not compatible.

Now I am not really happy with this studio 17. I want more video capability. I feel like what they are offering me is a DOWNGRADE? G73jh only recognises 2 speakers?
Im fairly noobish when it comes to sound, but i recently plugged my laptop into my 5.1 setup and cannot change the configuration in windows to be anything other than a 2 speaker setup.
I used a 3.5mm Stereo Plug/2 RCA Jack Cable and plugged the red and white connectors into the amp.
Anyideas? I know there are much more knowledgeable people on this issue here than i am that can set me straight. This whole ordeal and creative/realtek/x-fi etc just confuses me.

Vaio FZ unscrewed; how-to tutorial

A while back i promised some of you i'd post some pictures of the inside of my FZ11S, and that moment is finally here.
I'm used to cleaning out my notebooks every 6 months or so since i use it in reasonably dusty environments, and because i share my apartment with a hairy cat. But since the FZ doesn't have a separate lid that covers the fan area that means the whole bottom has to come off first. Since i couldn't find a manual or any other documentation on how to open up this particular Vaio i had to find out myself how to do it, and i thought it could be helpful to do a little how-to-tutorial instead of just a simple photo shoot.
First of all; when you need to open up your FZ make sure you have enough room to work with and a clean environment to work in. Keep in mind that some parts can be really delicate so don't use to much force. The FZ is put together really well and is very easy to take apart an put back together again, so if you have to use force you're probably doing something wrong anyway. I take no responsibility whatsoever if you brake anything, and chances are that you will loose your warranty when you open up your Vaio (although i managed to put mine back together again without a scratch, and i don't think that there's anyway to see that it's been opened). It's also advisable to discharge yourself from static electricity to prevent damaging the sensitive electronics. You have special risk bands for that, but i just touch the pipes of my well grounded central heating system from time to time and make sure i don't wear any synthetics. All the tools you need are a screwdriver and a creditcard, and for cleaning an old toothbrush and a vacuum cleaner or a can of compressed air.
Getting started:
-Unplug your notebook and place it upside down on a towel or piece of cloth to avoid scratches on the lid, i also recommend placing the keyboard cover that came with the notebook (the thin sheet of Styrofoam) between the lid and the keyboard. Take out the battery, and remove the two lids that cover the hard drive and the memory banks. Now you can remove the hard drive by unscrewing the three screws that hold the bracket in place, after that you can slide it to the left and take it out. The memory can be left in place during this whole procedure.
-Now unscrew and remove the optical drive; it's held in place by the two screws that are right underneath the drive, take them out and just slide out the entire drive. If it doesn't slide out real easy just press with a creditcard or screwdriver on the aluminum strip you see shining between the notebook casing and the drive to release it. After the drive is removed you can unscrew the rest of the screws at the bottom of the notebook, don't forget the four screws besides the battery connector (not to be mistaken with the ac power-plug) and the two larger screws that were underneath the battery, they hold the speaker cover from the inside. Collect all the screws, you're gonna need 'm again and you wouldn't want to loose one of them to find it got stuck somewhere inside the notebook and cause a short circuit later.
-Then comes the trickiest part; turn the notebook back on it's feet again and open the screen as far as it will go, the back lid is almost loose but you have to unscrew the screen hinges to because the screws that hold them in place are screwed directly into the back lid. To access them you need to remove the lid that covers the speakers first. It's only clicked in place since you've already removed the two screws earlier, so you can just pry it off carefully. Be careful with this, i again used a creditcard myself to create some room to get my fingers underneath it. A screwdriver will surely leave some nasty marks, and you don't really have to use that much force to get it off. Don't worry about losing the media buttons, they are fixed to the speaker cover and wont come off.
When you've got the speaker cover off you can see the hinges that are held in place by 3 screws each, you might have to move around a few wires before you can acces them. The first thing i noticed was that there was a lot of dust collected around the left hinge, not that strange since the fan is placed closely to it but still a bit funny. Now is the time to be really careful, after you've taken out those 6 screws the screen is only held in place by it's wiring, try to put as little stress on them as possible. That can be a little hard because you have to turn the whole thing around again while you keep it all in place at the same time, it can be helpful to have some assistance at this point but it's do-able by yourself. Before you turn it around make sure you have a good surface to put it on in the funny shape it has now, i used a soft pillow for this myself as you might be able to see in the pictures below.
Now you're done, you can simply lift off the back cover and see the little electronic wonders inside.
Cleaning:
To clean it up just check for dust, most of it will sit on and around the fan and you'll find a nice blanket between the fan and top heatpipe. If you find a lot of though-to-remove hairs around the fan -or find it necessary for any other reason- you could also unscrew the four screws that hold the fan casing in place to remove the fan and it's casing for better access.
Carefully pry and brush out all dust and dirt with the toothbrush and suck it up with the vacuum cleaner. I use a small hand size vacumer for that, it has a detachable rubber mouth (thats originally designed to suck up spilled fluids) that won't damage any components. Of course if you have a can of compressed air you can also use it to blow the dust out.
I took the pictures before i cleaned up the machine, so you can see how much -or little- dust it has collected within six months of heavy use. I did remove the dust i mentioned around the left-hinge before taking the pictures because i couldn't undo the screws otherwise.
Overall i'm quite pleased to see that it doesn't collect that much dust and that it is as easy to clean and work on, the FZ seems like a very well thought out and smartly put together piece of technology. Once you know how to you can take it apart and put it back together in ten minutes or so. Cleaning out the dust does help to keep the notebook quit(er) btw, the fan runs smooth again and it also doesn't turn on as much as it did and for a shorter period of time.
There were also a lot of questions about the fan or fan's, now we can see it has just one fan to cool both the CPU and GPU heat sink, just like it's predecessor the FE. Unlike the FE it does seem both heat sinks can be removed, they are both held in place with screws while the GPU heat sink of the FE was soldered on. I haven't tried it but i will next time i open it up and add some pictures of the CPU and GPU as well. Might take me while before i get to it though!

Holy Virtual Memory, Batman!!
I've had a problem with the Low VM error and still haven't been able to solve it. I ended up here eventually via google and finally got a post with tips that actually made sense...that post ended with the mod saying Laptop batteries also cause this error. This is the first time I've had problems with this error and it's happening with my first laptop, which I have come to treasure.
Is this something I can still get ahead of or is it a classic case of putting 2 and 2 together? How often is a laptop battery the culprit?
Symptoms and History: Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low error, crashing programs within 10-15 minutes. No scanner or defragger proved useful. Processes with highest VM Size are firefox.exe, cmdagent.exe and SMScvHost.exe (Firefox, Comodo, and I don't know).

I'm now without wireless capabilities, partly thanks to a driver download from Dell's site that was labeled a Rollback by my computer. I do carelessly leave it running with apps open, but scan daily (sometimes more) with light one-click registry fixers and optimizers.

I have to reset this DVD player every time I want to watch Netflix. Using the digital optical audio output,no sound is the issue, until reset. Using the Re-encode setting. Thanks for any suggestions?

Motherboard : gigabyte s series : 945
Hard disk (2) : 1000 GB Sata
160 GB Sata (currently disconnected)
GPU : Nvidia 8800 GT (512 Mb)
DVD :- 1 Read/Write
LAN Card. : 1
PSU : 400 W.
OS - Windows 7.
Everything was fine when I had a a single 160 Gb Hard disk & 1GB Ram with windows XP.
I checked a few psu calculator sites but i don't quite get the idea.
What problem could it be?

Samsung HT-X70 Wireless Speakers not working
I have tried everything I can find to get the wireless speakers to work. I cant get the wirelss receiver to link up and as a result the speakers wont work. I have reinstalled the TX card several times, reset the wireless. I have moved the wireless receiver nothing works.

Darksiders and M11x
Hey- Anyone else get darksiders for m11xr2? It was on sale for 10 bucks, but im surprised how poorly it runs on the m11xr2.
unfortunately there is no graphical settings except resolution and vsync....but i can barely run this game in anything higher than 800x600.
Just seeing if anyone else has tried it ,and got better results, or if its just a bad port/needs more video options to tone down stuff (like shadows).
i can run blackops fine (40+FPS constant), Just Cause 2 (no fps reading, but runs great), starcraft, wow, etc etc........just this game is poorly running.

Blue Screens?
Out of the blue my computer has shot me the blue screen three times in the last week, and caused it to restart. I'm not sure how to combat this. My specs are in sig.
Not sure how to access my minidump files to attach them(require administrative access).
If anyone could give me a word of advice or send me in the right direction, it'd be very appreciated. Thanks.

ASUS G73JH-TZ002V as a 3D player?
Hello everyone,
can anybody tell me if it is possible to use the Asus G73JH (ATI MR HD 5870) as a 3D movie player on a Sony 3D TV?
I already have the notebook for a couple of months, and now I'm buying the Sony KDL-46HX800 3D TV. So now I need to know if it is possible to use the laptop as a 3D player for 3D movies and maybe also 3D games? I mean here movies and games played from the HDD not from BR.

i7 620M vs i7 740QM
Hi I purchased the M15x last Saturday and got a deal I thought was good but then reading through forum posts I feel I may have picked the wrong CPU.
I went for the 620M because it would have worked out that the 740QM would have cost me 70 ($107) MORE for the same deal. I will be mostly using the laptop for gaming (Call of Duty Black Ops and new games) so will I regret it?

Good sources of ram for XPS 15?
It seems that ordering an XPS 15 with 4 GB RAM and then plugging in your own bought RAM is an easy and cost saving approach. Can anyone who has done this suggest a source for getting the extra RAM and what kind they got? How much did it cost- so we can get an idea of how much we can save by this approach?

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but it's my first plasma TV.
Whenever I hit power on the remote and the TV comes on, I get audio almost immediately, but do not any video after waiting approximately 1 minute. I cannot even access the tools or get the HDMI source info in the upper left corner of the screen.
If I power it off and then power on a second time, the video and audio both come on within about 10 seconds and the TV operates normally from that point on. Am I not being patient enough? Does the TV have to "warm up"? Thanks

Acer 7741G ATI 5650 driver problem
I did the usual uninstalled the existing driver, booted to safemode and ran driver sweeper removed all the ATI crap, then rebooted ran the CCC install for 10.11 drivers and it says it wont install some error. Tried 4 times now. Is there a new trick to update the graphics drivers I am not aware of???

HT-BD1250 Home Theater problem
I saw the following "review" at the samsung web site for the HT-BD1250T. I have a similar symptom, although I don't know if it is the same cause as claimed (Dolby). My TV cable box feeds optical digital signal directly to the HT-BD1250. When watching TV, during commercials, the sound volume drops to a level that makes them it almost impossible to hear. The volume must be set from about 10 during normal programing, to about 20+ to hear the commercials. I don't know if it is a "Dolby" issue or not.
I too have sound cut outs. During a 2 hour movie that is being played from my Cable-box/DVR, the sound might cut out 2 times for about 1 to 3 seconds each time.
Can you help explain this? Also, how would the person know that the signal is Dolby or not? Is there a display on the HT-BD1250 that identifies the signal?

Can't load Windows Vista!
I can't get into my OS -- please help!
Never had this problem before on my 2-year-old Asus M50Vm laptop. Suddenly Windows Vista crashed, for no apparent reason, and I couldn't even get the Task Manager when I pressed Control-Alt-Delete. So, I manually shut down the computer by pressing the on/off button.
Now I can't get back into Windows Vista. If I try loading normally, it stays stuck on the windows loading screen (with the bar). The hard drive light is active, and then it suddenly goes black, and the HD makes a similar noise as when I put the computer to sleep. It will either stay that way indefinitely (with the windows loading screen), or restart on its own.
If I start via the various safe mode options, it loads files up to crcdisk.sys (it's the last one it shows loaded) and then it stays stuck here (with the hard drive light solid), and either restarts eventually or stays here indefinitely.
If I boot from my Asus Windows Vista CD, it appears the only option it gives me is to reinstall my OS, which I prefer to be the last option (a big pain plus will lose all my files and settings). I don't see a repair option when booting on the CD.
I do occasionally get a blue error screen, but it only flashes for a second (not long enough for me to read it) before restarting.
After many attempts of rebooting, it is now automatically running chkdsk (before entering Windows). It appears it is going to take forever (it's only at 6 percent after a hour), and it's finding many file record segments (77192, 77193...1099444) as unreadable, although it does appear to have fixed two corrupted files. I am not optimistic that this is going to result in anything, or even finish within hundreds of hours!
I can't think of what caused this problem. I don't remember doing anything unusual today, and my antivirus protection is up-to-date. I did upgrade to MS Office 2010 a couple of weeks ago, that appears to have had some bugs in it and may have caused my system to be somewhat less reliable, but not sure if that had anything to do with this severe issue.
Any suggestions, please!?

New URL Shortener Hijacks Browsers for DDoS
In order to outline the dangers of implicitly trusting shortened URLs, a student has launched a service which generates links that take users to their destination, but also hijack their browsers for DDoS.
Called d0z.me, the service is the creation of Ben Schmidt (@supernothing307), a computer science major at University of Tulsa, who describes himself as a security enthusiast.
The URL shortener was inspired by the recent distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks launched by Anonymous and in particular the Web version of the group's Low Orbit Ion Canon (LOIC) tool.
This recently created JavaScript-based LOIC allows people to voluntarily join a DDoS effort by visiting a Web page instead of installing an application on their computers.
The tool works by modifying an image tag's src attribute in order to force the browser to continuously send HTTP requests to the targeted server.
Another motivation for his project, according to Schmidt, was the increasing number of obscure URL shorteners available to users.

Unable to uninstall Norton 360 from Vista

The computer came with Norton 360 (N360) installed. Since it was prepaid for one year, I used it for one year, then "uninstalled" via Control Panel/Uninstall Program. A couple of months later I noticed that Windows Security Center (WSC) reported that two firewalls and two anti-malware programs were running and could conflict: Defender and N360. I also continued to get balloon reminders that N360 updates were ready to install, but nothing happened if I clicked on the balloon. N360 didn't show in uninstall programs anymore, so I searched and found a couple of Norton & Symantec files left over on my computer. I manually deleted them, and thought that was it.
WSC continued to report that both programs were on, and I assumed it was just a message glitch - that N360 wasn't really on. Recently, I ran a Belarc Advisor report which reported that N360 was "up-to-date and running normally"! However, N360 never shows as an open program or running process in Windows Task Manager, nor as a running process in Sysinternals Process Explorer.
Now N360 shows up in Control Panel/Uninstall, but it is not responsive to right-click, and the "uninstall" button at the top is disabled when I click on N360. Today I downloaded the Symantec Norton Removal Tool. It downloaded OK, but nothing happens when I run the program (as administrator).

aspire 8930g charging problem
Hi all,
First post, bit of a newbie,
Wonderded if anyone can help me out,
Bought a 8930g second hand,
Problem is, the original battery only lasts around 15 minutes,
Bought a second battery, not original, but its still a 14.8v/ 4400mh,
It does not charge, bought another one from a different company,
That doesnt charge either, yet when i hook up the original, it charges no problem,
At my wits end with it, dont want to buy another battery, just in case its the same,
Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

computer with widows xp will not boot in any mode.
My computer froze so I shut off the power. When I turned it back on the screen with "safe mode", "start normally," etc came up. When any option is choosen, the windows screen comes up for a moment and then returns to the Safe mode screen. I used a repair cd and when I get to the 4th screen (the one after the licensing agreement) it does not give me the option to repair windows. How do I get past this and repair windows without having to reinstall and lose all of my data?

Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Freezing Computer
Hi everyone,
I'm in IT, and my organization has about 20 or so Dell Optiplex 740 and 745, plus a Dell Server that all have the Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx network controller. All these machines have this random problem. The computer boots up, internet and connections are good, then randomly throuhout using the computer, the internet dies. Tried doing some troubleshooting and can't get anywhere because everything seems to be frozen that has to deal with the network settings/services.
Here is a list of the symptoms when this occurs:
1.Tried disabling the network adapter through Network Connections, but explorer froze. After restarting explorer, the adapter shows as disabled. When I try enabling it, I get the message 3 seconds later "Connection Failed!" and the adapter stays disabled.
2.Can't disable or enable the network adapter through Device Manager. Explorer freezes if an attempt is made
3.ipconfig /all returns "Windows IP configuration" and nothing else
4.ipconfig /release returns "Windows IP configuration The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation"
5. Tried restarting every service. They start back up with no errors or freezing, but the adapter still won't respond.

Laptop LCD screen replacement- any advice?
My HP Pavilion laptop's display got spoilt last week-I mean the electronics inside got damaged. HP is willing to replace the entire laptop components(including Hard drive) for $430. But I do not want everything replaced as the laptop works fine when I connected it to an external monitor. Could someone please suggest a more affordable alternative(possibly about $150) using which I can replace just the screen of the laptop and go on using it?

Latitude 13 webcam driver
So, I just finished configuring my daughter's new Latitude 13 after wiping
everything and starting fresh. Win 7 Pro (32-bit, what sent me).
Everything is fine except for the webcam.
On the drivers page for both the Latitude 13 and Vostro V13 there is no
mention of a webcam driver. I have the webcam and received the Dell
Webcam Central CD, which I installed, but it can't see the webcam. I
presume I just need the driver, but where is it ? I've search all over Dell
and can only find drivers for Adamo, Inspiron and xps (if I recall correctly).
There is no indication of a webcam in the Windows System/Drivers list and
the system isn't complaing about an unknown device. I didn't see any
setting in the BIOS setup concerning the webcam.
What to do ?

Asus N73JQ Owners' Lounge
I'm not usually an early adopter, but I just orderd the N73JQ-A2 tonight. I wanted to get it from a re-seller, but I've been without a work laptop for weeks now, so as soon as I saw it available at a retailer, I grabbed it.

Random Freezes Tried Everything
I have had my M15x for around 6 months now. It has been fine up until the last week or two. Lately, it has been randomly locking up, while watching youtube videos or just playing WoW. Some of these lockups become unfrozen after a 1minute wait, and other times I am forced to do a hard reboot. When I reboot and log in, I am stuck at a black screen for over 1minute before anything loads up. I have scanned my pc thoroughly and am pretty sure this is not a virus. I have also downloaded the newest nvidia drivers from nvidia as well as dell and the problem persisted. Any ideas to what is causing this or a solution? I have also updated my bios.

I'm trying to configure a 8440p at hp direct, but how do I check that it has dedicated graphics? I don't see that option, I do see 3 different base units named:

Danish keyboard disappear after format
Hello,
I have LG x110 which I formatted with Windows XP sp3.
The laptop is from Denmark includes Danish/English layout on the keyboard (With the special Danish letters - , , ).
The problem is that for example if IU press on the "?" sign on the keyboard, I get on the screen the Character "-".
I press: ?
I get: -
How can I fix it?

Looking to possibly buy this and I'm comparing this to the HP dv7t Select Edition which I have but can still return.
What I like better is the port layout which sucks on the HP. Important to me is the quality of the screen.

Also, wondering about the 5400 rpm HD, wish it had a 7200 instead.
Is there software included to make blu rays or do you need software too. I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum E but still have lots to learn on PP video.

Simple question about hp dv6z series laptop
Hello i am considering purchasing this laptop with the minimal processor which is the AMD Turion(TM) II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P540 (2.4GHz, 2MB L2 Cache)

I've received and installed the hd3650 I ordered from ebay this afternoon. Results:
_The laptop goes through post and the bios reports 256mb of video memory. So far so good.
_Windows boot, drivers installed. Doing basic tasks is fairly uneventful.
_GPU idling at 60.
_Gaming: No go for now. I didn't reapply any thermal paste when I swapped the card so the temps basically spike to 90 and I get artifacts and back to the desktop with "driver crashed but successfully recovered message.... I need to scrap the thermal paste of the heatsink and apply some AS5. I also need to slightly move the memory chips thermal pads as they are not fully covered.
Off-topic: I need a new 9 cell battery for the lappy. During last week it was only lasting 1hr per full charge and it coincidentally choose today to completely die on me... Does anyone know where I could buy one? Thanks

I have a inspiron e1705. It originally had Windows media but currently has Windows XP Pro.
As long as the AC adapter is plugged in it's fine. But as soon as the AC adapter is unplugged, the low battery indicator comes on and the laptop is on for about five minutes and then turns off as if the battery died.
I checked the battery with an multimeter and it has a fully charged voltage. Every once in a while I can unplug the AC adapter and I will get the charged battery icon at the bottom right. Suddenly it will shift from that to low battery for a few minutes and will turn off if left for a few minutes without the AC adapter. When this happens, I check the battery and it has a fully charged voltage. What can be causing this? Thanks.

unable to change behavior in customize notifications in XP
When I opposite click in the task bar and select properties then customize I should be able to change the behavior of the icons in the notification area. It is totally disabled and I can not hide any of them. Hide when inactive is the only selection showing and the drop down arrow next to each icon will not function. I have looked on the web and not found a solution thus far. The operating system is XP pro service pack 3.

I've been a s41 owner for a while and I've read lots of posts regarding OC'n the 8600gs. From what I've read, lots of s41 users are able to oc their card to about 650mhz core clock, but I'm unable to do so. Whenever I try to oc mine to around 650, i get the black screen and my laptop restarts immediately. Dell is the absolutely worst company ever.
First let me say I love alienware laptops and have been buying them for years.Just bought a refurb m15x and I love it.Ok with that out of way.I also bought a 73" tv from took 2 weeks to get here not sure why but ok.It comes today they take it off truck and theres a huge hole in box and glass ratteling around.They put it back on truck and drove away.I called tell and it took a half hr to find my oreder(this is after being hung up on twice).There attitude was like oh well my bad well send you another one in about 8 days.Wouldnt do anything for me no money off,no throw ins nothing just a oh well!!It was shipped by pilot shipping,so i researched them on line and they have a horrible track record.Why would dell continue to ship with such a lousy company.Why because there cheap thats where the free shipping comes in.I would rather pay shipping with a reliable company like ups then get free shipping and go through all this agravation.And another thing does anyone at dell KNOW AMYTHING ABOUT THE PRODUCTS THEY ARE SELLING?I have never seen such an uninformed bunch of useless morons in my life.I will never buy from dell ever again(except maybe alienware laptops until they ruin them at least)
A couple of questions about Express Gate
I tried Express Gate today and noticed the screen resolution is wrong for my G73JH 1920 x 1080.
Is it the correct resolution on the G73JW machines?
It is not available for download on the G73JH page. Could I download a copy off of the G73JW Asus download page, or is it different. I wouldn't mind using it but it would be nice to have the screen at the native resolution.

N71J Laptop Sound Problem
I get a loud pop when plugging in headphones or turning on the sound after a delayed period of time. I've tried turning off drivers, updating drivers, turning off sound enhancements, and updating the BIOS. Nothing has helped.
I measured the DC offset out of the audio jacks between ground and the L/R channels. One jack has offsets of roughly 1200 mV, the other has offsets around 6.4 mV (volume set to zero in both cases). The 1200 mV DC offsets seem a bit off the charts to me. I don't know what the acceptable ranges are for laptops, but the offset on my amp isn't measurable.
Asus tech support hasn't been able to help me track down the problem. Does anyone have suggestions?

NVIDIA Geoforce GT 335M Causes Game Crashes
I know now for sure that the NVIDIA's graphics card is the root of the problem to many game crashes faced by m11x owners. I have experimented on many different occassions with many different games, switching back and forth between the Intel Graphics Card and the NVIDIA graphics card. My computer only freezes using NVIDIA. As to what the direct cause is, I don't know. It may be the Optimus technology, or I may just have to uninstall and reinstall NVIDIA drivers. I'm posting this to see if anyone can aid me in solving this on-going issue. I want to get to the bottom of this so that the m11x community has one less issue to worry about.

Odd problem with internet
So, whenever I start up Black Ops or Modern Warfare 2, I seem to no be able to go on the internet for a bit after I start up the game. Even though windows says everything is perfectly fine and there's an internet connection, I can't seem to browse. Also, right after waking up from sleep, it takes my 5300 card around 2 minutes to finally let me go on the internet again even though it's reported as up and running much earlier than that. This has been happening for the whole time with my laptop, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Though, the Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 problem has just come up recently...
Is this a faulty card? Or could it be my router settings?

Dell 530 Inspiron attempts to start then restarts....?

when the start button is pressed, it attempts to start, fans spin up but then shuts down. when the fans stop it either starts on the 2nd attempt or shuts down & restarts again. it will either boot properly on the 2nd or 3rd attempt.
when i put it in the sleep mode it will awake and start with no issues.
I've done the following so far...
scanned for any viruses / malware.
removed video card, cleaned contacts reinstalled.
removed all memory and used xtra hanging around to rule out issues with ram.
installed new power supply.
bios is up to date.
baffled at this point, any help would be appreciated.

Windows crashes when I right click to get menu
Since an update a couple months ago, half the time I right click a page or Desktop or a jpg or something, windows crashes. Then I have to reboot and sometimes the data is lost. After I reboot, I get a message saying it has recovered from a fatal error and gives me a button to click for more info. Then another window pops up and gives me a button to click for more info, too. I copied a couple of them into notepad:

Airport Express: Compatibility with Playstation 3?
I'd really appreciate any advice or counsel regarding connectivity issues between Airport Express and Sony's new Playstation 3. Are there any potential glitches in Playstation receiving the wireless signal from Airport Express & then transferring it via HDMI to my LG TV? I'm running a new Imac.

Airport Express as solution for crappy D-link timing out.
I have a D-link router with cable internet, two MacBooks that are constantly running up against the wifi dropping out (>< * and at the most inconvenient times!).
A couple months ago I managed to limit the router to one channel and it seemed to fix the problem to a degree. Its become increasingly problematic recently and I folded the last pair of Kings because of a crappy wifi link up.
After looking around a bit I think I may be able to finally put to use the Airport Express I bought back in 2005 as one writer commented that the installation of that would fix the drop outs.
While I am trying to make this airport express work for me does anyone have any suggestions or tips? IS this a Mac issue, or the router, or a service provider issue?
