Cannot install Sony Picture Motion Browser on Vista HomePrem

Hope someone can assist me because Sony Tech support could not. Just bought the Sony handyCam DCR-DVD108. I wanted the install the Sony Picture Motion Browser software on Vista Home Premium. I completed all the steps until it asks to turn on the camera and select the discs Computer on the LCD. I did that and it indicates Preparing... this is where everything screws up. It never goes to a complete stage and Vista pops up with Found New Hardware window. I click on to install the driver and it doesn't find it on my hard drive or directly from the DVD. I also downloaded the update but that failed because the original software is not installed. Can someone assist in a resolution or is everyone else having the same problem?

Sony Picture Motion Browser will not install on My Vista computer
Same thing with Sony Techs, they wash their hands of it.
They say it must be my computer. But I tried 2 computers same thing.
I have spent many hours on this, very frustrating.
They tell me to get some other software.
But what I have tried will not read the Sony encryption.
I need the Sony PMB.
Like to find an answer.
Camera is 8 months old and I still can't use it.
Sony is not a top company any more.

But the details are missing in all the above posts. While it could this or that, be sure this OS is noted and that the OS is stock. I've had to roll back the OS, set the browser back to IE, uninstall antivirus, drop the firewall, run as administrator and even reload the OS.

You're right. No one would touch this. But there are folk it does install for.
