Message to s7ryk3r re: Manual bypass of Samsung BD-HT1250

Not sure why the thread was closed so quickly, but perhaps it's a policy change to go along with the redesign(?) Anyway, FWIW there is often a separate service manual in addition to the user manual. The service manual covers parts/repair while the user manual covers general operation and troubleshooting. Like I said, if you want to try to repair, find a service manual. Otherwise, save yourself the pain and take it in.

http://forums.cnet.com/7723-7596_102-523884.html is another example where that Question style post is just a bad idea. The forum bottoms out and discussions are hard.

..how about questions/ideas that get posted and, from the subsequent responses, the OP then asks for additional information/clarification, etc. how something works? In this case he wasn't aware of the distinction between a service & user manual.
One might hope that most threads like this don't get locked quite so soon so that all possibilities/clarifications may be made in a single thread and conveyed back to the OP via forum notifications.

cheers,

There is a discussion about the new Question format. So far it appears to create more trouble than it's worth.

How do you like it?

I guess I see it as something else the user has to deal with. Perhaps in some cases this may create an unnecessary additional complexity.

I will take a look for the discussion on the new question format...
