All of a sudden I got a BSOD.
Hasn't happened before so I thought it might be a one off thing.
I entered my password like normal and the loading circle was spinning as normal. All of a sudden I got a BSOD. I tried multiple times and the same thing happens. When it loaded I left it on the screen it crashed even before I entered my password.
I went into safe mode and the same thing happened both before and after entering my password
I'm worried as I need to do my uni work
currently running a memory check and will try a system restore after
have attached a pic of the BSOD
please help me out as I need my laptop this week more then ever
thanks
EDIT - wont let me upload the image here
I will try imageshack
EDIT 2- Won't let me upload there either
the error says DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
TECHNICAL INFO says iastor.sys
also system restore hasnt worked

You can try uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Manager (don't do this if you are on Windows XP), but I would also check your computer for rootkits/viruses.

Hopefully a system restore will work, though you may want to check out this page about the blue screen/stop errors on the Windows site: Resolving stop (blue screen) errors in Windows 7
There are a few tips that you might find helpful.

Thanks for the info
I did a re-install as this is the only computer I have and I needed to be able to do my work on it and it has worked
I will uninstall intel matrix storage mangaer, and I would also like to know how to check for rootkits
Thanks
I tried and it had no effect I'm afraid

I'm surprised that even a reinstall didn't work. Did you do clean install? Granted, you'll lose your data, but it's also a way to see if it's entirely a software issue.

The clean re-install worked, but the system restore I did before that did not

if you get it again download Who Crashed and post the results.
the IRQL is to do with your graphics drivers. have you updated them lately?

As Namaiki suggests, check for rootkits. Apparently some virus is faking/injecting itself into Intel's driver and it could be the cause too (found example here: F-Secure forum - BSOD after f-secure antivirus clean - w32/TDSS.gen!D ).
