World of War Craft patches

I hope I am posting to the correct forum. I don't know much about this so hopefully somebody will understand what I am asking. My sons like to play "World of War Craft" on the Internet. Once and a while apparently there is a patch for the program that needs to be downloaded. That is where we run into the problem. The patch is too big to be downloaded through our Internet connection. I am wondering if there was some other way to get that patch without downloading it. The kids had a friend download one of the patches a while ago and put it on a CD so they could install it on their computer, but it wouldn't work. Would somebody know if this should have worked and maybe there was an error in the download? I would be willing to pay for the patch if we could buy it from the company that makes it. If anybody has any ideas how I can get these patches I would really like to hear some other options. Thank you very much in advance.

It was a laptop so my suggestion (that worked) was to go get a cup of coffee at a free wifi spot and get the patch there.

it would be a good idea except for two things. It is on a desktop computer and as far as I know there is no place around here that I could use their WiFi. Thanks for the idea though.

This is Blizzard's (the maker if World of Warcraft) official website for the game and specifically where to download patches.

To be on the safe side, I'd recommend the standalone patcher that's listed a bit down the page. That one is a bigger download, but should update any version of the game to the most recent.

If it won't download from your home, have someone else download that file and put it on a CD. It should work, unless the CD is bad. Also make sure to get the proper patch for your system. Most likely the Windows patch, but if you have a Mac system, you want to be sure to get that patch instead.
